Championship Rules

There will be 3-5 judges for the events: Forms, Point Sparring, Traditional Weapons, Flag Sparring (Ages 6 & under/ 7-8 Beginner belts ONLY), & Creative Musical Forms or Weapons (i.e. creative form with or without music, with or without a weapon, two person forms, or synchronized forms). If 2 people do an event together, only 1 award will be given on behalf of both individuals.

Forms, Creative Musical, Weapons

Each Judge will score 9.90 to 9.99 points. In the event of a tie, judges will point to either side. Proper technique should be judged by the competitor's rank/ belt color, skill, and performance, which leads to fair judgment. For example, a red belt may compete doing a red belt form or lower belt form, but NOT doing a higher belt form (i.e., black belt form). If so, judges please judge accordingly, because we want a fair event. In the Creative Musical Forms/Weapons, Xtreme Martial Arts (XMA) is NOT allowed (i.e., Back flips/ Back handsprings, Aerials, etc.) Basic tumbling is allowed.

Traditional Weapons 

Music and XMA are NOT allowed. If the competitor drops their weapon, they're automatically disqualified, and can't place unless there's only 4 or less competitors. 

Point Sparring

Head gear, gloves, boots, mouthpiece, & groin protection for males are required. There will be 2 points for kicks & 1 point for hands scoring 5 points or the most points within a 2-minute match wins. A point will be given if the competitor has at least 1 foot in the ring. The timekeeper will stop the time when a competitor is completely out of the ring or if someone is injured. 

Judges have 1 vote each, and Majority vote determines a point, warning or disqualification. There's an automatic disqualification after 2 warnings (majority vote). No spine, groin, or sweeping to the back leg are allowed, and will result in a warning. You can sweep the front leg (3 sec) while standing to score a point or 2 seconds on the ground. In case of a tie, the next point wins (sudden death).

Team Sparring

The same rules for Point Sparring; however, it's a team 

of 3 individuals. There must be 3 teams of 3 Black Belt Men or 

3 teams of 3 Black Belt Women to qualify for a CASH PRIZE. 

You may have more than 1 team from the same school compete as long as it's different members on each team= 9 competitors.

Flag Sparring (Ages 6 and Under/Ages 7-8 Beginner belts ONLY)

If you are competing in Flag Sparring, then you can NOT compete in Point Sparring too. Whoever pulls off the most flags within a 1-minute match wins. You may pull off more than 1 flag at a time. In case of a tie, the next flag pulled wins (sudden death).
